The installation “Rainbow-target“, set-up near-by Luri road (June 2012 – October 2013) in the Corsica Cape, north of Corsica, consists of 22,000 cartridge sockets and is about 20 meters in diameter. The socket is the dimensional index, that gives the image its concrete resolution.
Mounted on a metal stem and planted in the ground, it is a flower and, like the pixel in the virtual world, draw with a touch of color, the circular shape of a rainbow seen from the sky with a circle pupillary black.
The installation perceived as a target, a focal center of vision, can be seen as an eye to the rainbow retina, recalling the ocellus on the wing of the butterfly. It is designed as a magical and protective sign, that negatively negates the destructive symbol of the firearm in the cartridge socket.
If aiming, and seeing, have the same etymological root (we aim through the lens of a camera or in the viewfinder of a weapon), the notion of territory is also linked to that of its conquest.
By entering the agricultural landscape, the objective is to consider this conquest from a cultural angle by drawing attention to the aesthetic values of productive practices of space, especially in agriculture-pastoral environment
